Organization chart

The members of the Scientific Committee (2024-2027) of smaTs are:

  • Francesca Fiorentini – coordinatrice

    Department of Legal, Language, Interpreting and Translation Studies

    Francesca Fiorentini is associate professor of Private Comparative Law. She is former Research Associate at the Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationals Privatrecht of Hamburg and former Marie Curie Fellow at the Zentrum für Europäisches Rechtspolitik of the University of Bremen. She has authored a book on Secured Transactions over Immovable Property in European Law, co-edited many books and published articles and essays on comparative property law and comparative cultural heritage law. She has co-directed an international research project financed by the European Union (ERA-NET PLUS - Horizon 2020) entitled "The Right to Cultural Heritage - Its Protection and Enforcement Through Cooperation in the European Union". She is a member of "The 1995 UNIDROIT Academic Project" aimed at the spreading around the world the culture of heritage proctection by promoting states' adoption of the UNIDORIT Convention on stolen or illegally exported cultural property.

  • Paolo Bernardis

    Department of Life Sciences

    Paolo Bernardis is an associate professor at the Psychology Unit, and serves as the Director of the Specialization School in Neuropsychology. His research lines focuses on the perception and control of action in healthy individuals and in those with neurological deficits. Presently, his research involves studying eye movements and autobiographical memory, motion control, and cognitive functions in patients with Parkinson's disease, as well as exploring the interactions between emotions and action control.

    Cristina Cocever Ricci

    University Museum System and Museum Center

    Cristina Cocever is the head of the University Library System and Museum Center. She holds a degree in Communication Sciences, and is specialized in Advertising and Corporate Communication. She also hosts a first-level master's degree in Document Indexing in the Digital Environment. She coordinates the publishing house EUT - Edizioni Università di Trieste, the Museum Center, and the University Library System.

  • Fulvia Mainardis

    Department of Humanities

    Fulvia Mainardis is an associate professor of Roman History and Latin Epigraphy, a member of the teaching board of the School of Specialisation in Archaeology (Trieste, Udine, Venice) and of the PhD School (Venice, Trieste, Udine). He is a member of the Curatorial Board of the ‘P. Revoltella’ Museum of Modern Art in Trieste and is the University's scientific referee for the International Centre for Studies on the History and Archaeology of the Adriatic. He is currently president of the Centre of Upper Adriatic Antiquities and vice-president of Terra Italia Onlus. He deals with issues related to Romanisation, onomastics, linguistic and alphabetic interference between Romans and non-Romans, political and administrative history, ancient economy (instrumentum), epigraphic forgery and the use of new media for teaching and epigraphy.

    Moreno Zago

    Department of Political and Social Sciences

    Moreno Zago is an environmental and territorial sociologist and an associate professor with courses in Tourism Analysis and Project as well as in Cross-Border Relations and Local Development. He is co-director of the journal "Futuribili" and regional delegate of the Italian Society of Tourism Sciences. His research activities primarily focus on three main areas: changes in tourist demand and supply; identity, borders, and cross-border cooperation; multiculturalism and quality of life.

  • maria cristina pinzani

    Maria Cristina Pinzani

    University Museum System and Museum Center

    Maria Cristina Pinzani was graduated in Conservation of Cultural Heritage with a historical-artistic focus, and subsequently obtained a diploma as Archivist and a specialisation diploma from the Master's Degree Course in Photographic Archives: Digitisation, Cataloguing, Valorisation. Since its establishment, she has been collaborating with the University Museum System, participating in initiatives aimed at preserving historical artistic heritage and enhancing its value. She is assigned to the Archive of Writers and Regional Culture, where she manages the reference service reference and coordinates the activity to the internships in the study programs.

  • Jordan Piščanc

    Jordan Piščanc

    Digital archives and library support

    Jordan Piščanc is the Head of the Digital Archives and Library Support Staff Unit. He has been following the University Institutional Archives for more than 18 years as IT Repository Manager. Graduated in Electronic Engineering with a Master in Privacy & Security ICT in PA and ITIL Foundation certification, he mainly deals with Open Archive and DSpace-CRIS/GLAM infrastructures. He follows OpenScience topics with great interest and is active in the DSpace community with speeches in various international conferences (OpenRepositories, OAI, euroCRIS).

  • elisa zilli

    Elisa Zilli

    University Museum System and Museum Center

    Elisa Zilli is a librarian, holding a degree in Humanities with a focus on history and art. She obtained a bachelor degree in Bibliography and Musical Librarianship, a master degree in Document Indexing in the Digital Environment, a master in General Museum Education, and a diploma from the School of Archiving, Palaeography, and Diplomacy. She is in charge of the the office which coordinates Museum Services and the TSA (Theatre, Sound, and Audiovisual) Pole of the National Library Service, primarily handling cataloging, indexing, and catalog-related issues.

  • Bruno Callegher – coordinator

    Department of Humanities

    Bruno Callegher is a full professor in Numismatics and Monetary History. In 1987/88 he created and organized the Archive of the writer Goffredo Parise, both in Rome and Ponte di Piave, which allow conservation and use of the writer's papers, library, and artworks collection, featuring works by Cy Twombly, Tano Festa, Franco Angeli, Giosetta Fioroni, Filippo de Pisis, Mario Schifano. He was the director and curator of the Bottacin Museum in Padua. He was also part of the task force which designed and realized the Museum of Palazzo Zuckermann and the Historical Museum of the city of Padua. He serves as a consultant for the conception of the numismatic section of the National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia and the Museum of the Holy Land - Studium Biblicum in Jerusalem.

    Ester Colizza

    Department of Mathematics, Informatics and Geosciences

    Ester Colizza is an associate professor, who give classes in Geology. Her primary research interest lies within the framework of the National Research Project in Antarctica, to which she contributes investigating late Quaternary paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic events through the analysis of sedimentary materials. She has participated in eight expeditions to Antarctica. Since 2017, she has been the director of the Trieste section of the National Antarctic Museum.

  • stefano martellos

    Stefano Martellos

    Department of Life Sciences

    Stefano Martellos is an associate professor in Systematic Botany. His research interests focus on biodiversity informatics biodiversity informatics, taxonomy, and the ecology of lichenised fungi. He has published several papers in international scientific journals, co-authored several books — some of which devoted to laypersons — on botanical themes. He was the inventor of the first patent of the University of Trieste for the identification of classifiable objects, such as plant and animal organisms, minerals, and more. He is a member of several scientific associations, including the National Association of Scientific Museums.
